When I signed up for the styled shoot at White Oak Farm in January (in Ohio), I wasn’t sure what I was going to get! But, oh boy, the winter sun delivered. So, you might start reading this and ask – what is a styled shoot? It’s a photography event where wedding vendors gather to show off the best of the best!

I have to interrupt myself by saying that White Oak Farm is simply an amazing location for a wedding – you must check them out!

Back to what I was saying. 🙂 Typically a host brings in the vendors (flowers, cake, decor, dress, venue) and pieces together a beautiful vision. Typically a real couple is identified and brought in to finish setting off the scene! The host then advertises to photographers, and anywhere from 10-30 of us show up to take photos of the setup! In off-season months (particularly January – April) this can be a great way to keep building extra content and dust off the camera!

This was one of my favorite styled shoots, simply because the decor and vibe matched everything I love in a wedding. An outdoor, woodsy venue – check (aka White Oak Farm!) A boho-decor – check. BEAUTIFUL florals – check. A fun couple – check. And a fantastic golden hour – check!

We started off at the identified staged ceremony spot in the forest. I tell ya – this is what wedding dreams are made of! We took photos of the couple by the lovely ceremony decor spot. (I mean, this setup was just amazing!) We then went off into the forest where the sun just GLOWED through the trees. What was most amazing to me – does this look like winter? The forest still looked alive – almost like we were in the middle of fall.

We then went down by the lake and caught the last few moments of sunset. It started to get reallllyyy cold as the temperature dipped. We circled back up to the front of the venue where the reception decor was set up. Beautiful lights around a table, the big and bold LOVE sign, and a fire pit, made for a wonderful and romantic scene.
