The White Barn Venue is located in Southeast Indiana in Madison. It’s close to the Ohio River and sits on 49 acres. It’s a really neat venue as it gives a beautiful feel of just being out in the country! The venue, not surprisingly (as it’s in the name!), is a white barn. But it’s so much more than that as it gives a bit of feel of country elegance and is a lovely spot to tie the knot. The bridal and groom suites are spacious and great for photos. I really enjoyed the day with Gracie and Ted.
I also have to note that the venue’s staff and owners are incredibly kind and helpful. They personally greeted each of the vendors as we arrived, which I hadn’t experienced before as a photographer. If you’re looking to host your wedding here, I don’t think you’d be disappointed with the service you receive!
I’ll go through each of the key parts of the wedding day and below you’ll find a vendor list complete with links. I hope this helps anyone planning their wedding at The White Barn Venue. You can find information direct on their website here.
We arrived and as always, I started focusing on details. I loved Gracie’s bridal details! She used a great pink color along with a dark blue. I always enjoy putting together a bridal detail flat lay, but this one has to be one of my favorites! The pink color just reminds me of a sweet spring or summer day. We also did some photos of the groom’s details – notably some cowboy boots!
After details, we started with getting ready photos. We captured some great closeups of the bride getting her dress on with her mom’s assistance. The bridal suite is a great and wide open spot for the getting ready photos. The groom’s suite was great too – I definitely recommend doing a photo on the stool in front of the window as we did!
Gracie and Ted did not do a first look but we we were able to get a lot of photos before the ceremony. But we focused on the groomsmen separately and then the bridesmaids! Since the bridal suite is apart from the barn, this made keeping them separate very easy. At the White Barn Venue, there are multiple photo spot options. We selected the area where there was some shade, out on the side of the barn (since we started photos around 3pm and it was pretty bright outside!) I just love how the glow of the sun comes off around the barn – check these out!
After capturing these photos, we did a first look with the bride and her dad! It was a very sweet moment – I love this part of the day. After this, we tucked everyone away in prep for the ceremony!
There ceremony took place out on the open space in front of the barn. It was the end of July, so with summer weddings, it’s still very bright out around 5pm! It was a lovely ceremony. Ted was escorted down with his grandfather. Gracie and her dad walked out of the barn and I captured a sweet moment of Ted grinning as he saw Gracie. They exchanged vows and were married! I especially loved as they walked back down the aisle together, they stopped for a kiss!
After the ceremony, we captured the entire bridal party and some more family photos!
After capturing the fun bridal party photos, we decided to change the timeline around a bit! It was a very hot summer day, and decided to give Gracie and Ted some time to relax and enjoy dinner. I was excited for this because instead of doing their portraits earlier in the day, we got to do golden hour (aka sunset) photos. More on this below!
At the White Barn Venue, the reception is hosted in the barn. I started by capturing some of their reception details – a lovely cake and check out the venue’s chandelier! The bridal party was introduced (with Gracie giving Ted a beer!). Following dinner, they cut the cake, had toasts and their first dances (and they totally went for it with the cake!)
But the best part was taking them outside for sunset photos. The White Barn Venue has so many beautiful areas to photograph at sunset. We started out by a very golden area and then walked over to the area where they had a vintage couch set up. All in all, it was a great series of golden hour photos!
After we finished their portraits, we went back to their reception for some more fun – there is an outdoor area of the barn that guests loved spending time at. After some dancing, the venue set up a sparkler exit – which made for some more amazing photos. Gracie concluded the evening with an outfit change and we said goodbye!
