Steam Plant Dayton is a wedding venue located right in downtown Dayton, Ohio. It’s newly renovated, very spacious, and a great venue to consider if you’re planning a wedding in Dayton! Right from their website, they are former power generating plant that was turned into a wedding venue (incredible, right?) The inside comes with incredibly high ceilings, exposed beams and brick, and an absolutely gorgeous getting ready suite on the second floor. I loved working at the Steam Plant Dayton!
The Steam Plant Dayton provides different options for indoor and outdoor ceremonies and of course the beautiful reception space seems perfect for any sized celebration. It’s also a good backdrop for any type of styling for a wedding (elegant, rustic, cozy, vibrant, etc.)
Once again, if you’re planning a wedding in the Dayton area, I do recommend checking out Steam Plant! If you’re looking for other options, I also recommend another venue called the Brightside which is very close to the Steam Plant. Check out my real wedding blog for more info on that venue!
About the author: I am Kate Legters, a wedding photographer based in Cincinnati and Dayton Ohio (I also travel!) If you’re planning a wedding in the Dayton area, I’d love to talk!
For the rest of this post, I’m going to walk you through a real wedding that took place at the Steam Plant that I had the pleasure of photographing! The full vendor list from this wedding is below.
Megan and Ted met at the University of Dayton playing frisbee! (and you’ll see that reflected below!) They are a very sweet couple that planned their wedding from California (where they currently live). They both got ready at the Steam Plant Dayton, the ceremony was at the University of Dayton, and then we headed back to the Steam Plant for their wedding reception!
First, we’ll start off with the morning. I always start the day with details photos, as many of your know! Megan and Ted’s wedding colors were cranberry, navy, and lots of greenery. And check out her shoes – they were so cute! These were all taken at the Steam Plant, in the very light and bright upstairs area!
Next, it was time for Megan and Ted each to get ready! I was in the upstairs bridal suite with the girls, and my second photographer was in the basement with the guys! It’s really nice having a venue where the two definitely won’t be able to see each other.
Prior to leaving, I snapped some photos of the beautiful reception space. Check out how spacious and nice the Steam Plant Dayton is all set up!
After they were all ready to go, we headed over to the University of Dayton for their first look, bridal party photos and some portraits of the two of them. Check out all these gorgeous autumn trees!
Here were some photos from their first look! I love the picture of Megan and her sister walking toward where they’d meet up with Ted.
Next, it was time to have some fun with their bridal party!
Next, it was time for bride and groom portraits! It might have been an overcast day but we managed to capture so many neat portraits. Just look at those autumn leaves!
Now it was ceremony time! They got married at the chapel on campus. It was such a nice ceremony!
After they said I-do, we went outside to have fun playing some frisbee- remember this is how they first met!
We captured a few more of the two of them prior to heading back to the Steam Plant – their church was so pretty and we had to get that epic shot!
And then we were back at the Steam Plant! Check out the start of their reception!
