Sawyer Hayes Community Center is nestled right up against Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky. It’s modernly constructed, with an absolutely wonderful entrance. As you walk in you’ll see a great furniture setup (those beautiful, teal couches!) and the reception space is large with floor-to-ceiling windows that show off the all of the bright, green trees! The outdoor area is great for photos as well. This bride and groom love national and state parks and wanted to incorporate that theme into their wedding. Sawyer Hayes Community Center made the perfect backdrop for bringing their vision to life!
Take a look at the photos below to get an idea of this beautiful venue! Vendor links are below as well.
Samantha and Steven were incredibly excited to spend the day with their family and friends. The ladies were able to get ready at the venue, where I started the day with them. The guys got ready at a nearby hotel. We then headed for their church for their ceremony, and then came back to Sawyer Hayes Community Center for photos of the bridal party and to party at the reception! We were also able to grab some beautiful sunset photos!

As I mentioned we started the day getting ready at Sawyer Hayes Community Center. Samantha loves the color lavender and chose that as their primary wedding color. She also loves nature, so she wanted a lot of greenery. I absolutely love how their details came together – I think her vision of bringing these two colors together worked so well! Also, the reception hall was a great spot for hanging their dresses!
I had Samantha spend some sweet moments with her mom out in the front area as she put some finishing touches on her dress and getting her jewelry and shoes on. And as typical, the guys had a lot of fun with their photos too!
It was finally time to get married! We left Sawyer Hayes Community Center for their church. The church these two tied the knot at is called Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. This church is so pretty with lots of natural light coming and some fun color throughout. The best part was the courtyard – lots of pretty green and even purple flowers to help complement the day!
Samantha and Steven’s ceremony was a full Catholic mass complete with some personalized vows and readings. It was a very sweet ceremony!
After we finished at the church we headed back to Sawyer Hayes Community Center. We started with photos of the bridal party right outside the venue and then did a few of the bride and groom. It was a very hot day in early June, so we headed inside to keep everyone cool. We were greeted with purple La Croix!
We started the reception with introductions, and a welcome speech. After dinner, we moved into toasts, a special song and slideshow from the bride’s family, cutting the cake, and finally dancing! I was able to pull Samantha and Steven away for some sunset photos which was so worth it! They loved this part of the day as it was a time to just relax and have some fun. After we finished this part, we worked in a sparkler exit and chugging a few beers! It was a great fun, summer wedding!
