It was a beautiful day in October for Tamika and Matt’s wedding! I was so excited for this day. Tamika and Matt originally spoke to me about their day last year. Tamika told me “I’m literally planning a big, fat Greek wedding!” I was stoked! We did their engagement session at Keeneland in January of this year and as with so many of my couples, I could tell how much these two just love and adore one another.
On the wedding day itself, the groom and bride and got ready in separate locations. The venue, Savannah Center, is located in West Chester Ohio. Close to the venue are several hotels (right at Union Center exit if you’re familiar with that area!) They each picked a different hotel to get ready at. The girls had picked these beautiful robes that matched the color of their dresses. The guys were all super classy looking in their black ties and tuxes! What a vibe. 🙂
We did traditional getting ready photos (details, robe photos for the girls, and capturing some sweet moments with the bride and her mom). We then also did a first look with the bride and her dad!
After the girls and guys were all ready we left for the church. They all rode separately since they were not seeing each other before the wedding. If you haven’t attended a Greek wedding, they are so neat. The ceremony is a traditional church wedding with many ceremonial moments that represent the couple’s love for another and that encompasses their religious beliefs. The church itself as well is absolutely beautiful – it’s so neat seeing all the details come together for these ceremonies.
After the ceremony (yay Tamika and Matt are married!) the bride and groom had a staged exit from the church where their guests were invited to throw flower petals. So sweet and romantic! Afterwards we went back inside the church and did family photos and a few pictures of the bride and groom.
After we finished these photos, we went over to Glenwood Gardens, which is just north of the church. This park provides a beautiful backdrop of gorgeous fall trees. We took photos of the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and entire bridal party. Matt had a moment where he wanted to throw leaves in the air so I suggested that would look fun with the girls! And it did! We took more sweet photos of the bride and groom here as well. I like to build in several times throughout the day to get photos of the couple. It’s good to prioritize these because these are the photos you’ll want to print and put around your house!
After finishing photos at Glenwood, we left for the reception venue! Savannah Center has a beautiful gazebo area right outside and we did even more photos of the bride and groom there. These turned out to be some of my favorites. I definitely recommend that if you have your wedding here to get photos at that gazebo – the sun sets to the side of it (at least in the fall) and it looked so great!!
We finished their photos right at sunset and they went inside for their introductions, tons of Greek dances, great food, and amazing fun. I can’t express enough how much fun this day was!
