Polen Farm is a beautiful venue located in Kettering, which is outside of Dayton Ohio. It’s actually a nineteenth century farmhouse settled on 15 acres! While they host multiple different types of events, they seem to be perfect for weddings! The house comes with several getting ready areas and a beautiful outdoor area perfect for so many wedding spots. There is also a barn where the receptions are held and then a lovely ceremony spot outside.
Polen Farm‘s information is located here! Read on to hear more about this beautiful, wintery wedding day.
As a couple, Sarah and Chandler are just so incredibly sweet together. I originally met them for their engagement session back in February of 2022 right after a snow storm. So they had this wonderful snowy engagement session (check it out here!) and it was everything I’ve ever wanted to photograph! They were super excited for their November wedding. At the time when they booked me, I was picturing a fall wedding with the trees just finishing the loosing of their leaves. But what we got was so much better – snow!!
That’s right, for Sarah and Chandler’s wedding at Polen Farm, we had a beautiful winter daydream. I couldn’t get over how amazing it all looked. The couple chose the colors of light and dusty blue along with greenery. The light blue just looked soooo good up against the snowy backdrop.
Polen Farm also has these beautiful, tall evergreen trees as well that with snow covered on them just looked like a magical Christmas card! I really enjoyed taking all of their portraits and they were totally up for it to spend some time in the cold.
We began the day with details photos (of course!) which once again all of the light blue, creams, and greens looked so good together! Then we moved on to their getting ready photos where we photographed Sarah and her mom downstairs in front of the big, bright window (with once again, a beautiful winter landscape outside!) We then photographed the guys outside (and it was still snowing at this point!) and then moved on to the bridesmaids.
It was now time for the ceremony! And they kept their ceremony outside! I loved photographing every minute of this. Polen Farm has a beautiful ceremony that I referenced above. The couple left blankets and hand warmers for all of their guests and they kept the ceremony down to a minimal time so guests weren’t out there too long. It was such a sweet moment as they saw each other for the first time that day. Sarah looked so pretty walking down the aisle with her dad! They said their vows and I managed to capture one of my favorite photos of the day – a kiss as they came down the aisle together.
After the ceremony, we took photos of the family, bridal party, and then the couple. We were able to get all of these photos taken quickly as it was pretty cold outside!
After we finished up, it was starting to get dark (as daylight savings had just ended the weekend before!) so we headed over the to the barn for the reception. I took additional details photos of the reception decor and happily waited for their introductions to start!
They did introductions and then a photo dash where we quickly grabbed photos at each table with all of their guests. Then followed dinner, toasts, cake cutting and a lot of dancing! This was such a fun reception watching everyone celebrate with these two! This was the wedding that concluded a busy fall wedding season and I felt so fortunate to be there with them.
Enjoy their photos below!
