About the Styled Shoot at Mojave East

I was really excited to sign up for the styled shoot at Mojave East. For reference, a styled shoot is an event that is scheduled by either a photographer or wedding planner (or could be someone else!) to bring together creative minds and stage a wedding or a couple for photographers to photograph. This particular styled shoot occurred in January of 2022 at the wedding venue in Newtown, Ohio (just outside of Cincinnati) Mojave East.

The setup consisted of three different opportunities to photograph. The first was a bride in a breathtakingly beautiful blue dress. The second was a same-sex couple of two brides in their beautiful attire. And the third was an area of wedding photography I haven’t done very much before and that’s bridal boudoir!

The bride in the blue dress is probably my favorite unique gown I’ve ever photographed! Look at this color! We went out into the ceremony area for these photographs. The second set of brides were so much fun to work with – we stayed inside for these photos and some fun colorful balloons. It was great capturing them as well when we went outside for some nice golden hour light! The third bride (the boudoir photos) were super unique for me as I hadn’t had the opportunity to do this before! Overall, it was great fun to do something creative and with such pretty colors. (And I’m not opposed if brides want me to photograph their boudoir before their wedding!)

There happened to a beautiful pink glowy sunset that just made for beautiful photos. We also did a staged sparkler exit to finish out the evening!

About the Venue

Mojave East is nestled in the south part of Cincinnati and is designed and inspired by wedding venues out west. Inspired after California and Palm Springs, they definitely bring a west desert vision to life in the mid-west. What I love about this venue is all the beautiful light – this is caused by the light interior and exterior.

The venue itself has plenty of photography opportunities around it’s inside and outside. Some of the plant life even looks like it’s straight out of the western deserts! I would definitely recommend considering this venue if that’s a vibe you’re looking for in planning your wedding!
