I loved working with Lauren and Jake for their Lexington Kentucky Engagement session! While the couple was planning their wedding in the Cincinnati area, they live in Lexington and wanted to feature their town in their engagement session. I’m a Cincinnati-based wedding photographer, but will always travel to Lexington for no extra charge!
When first talking with Lauren, she was debating which location to go with – there’s quite a few nice options in the Lexington area. I asked her what were some of her favorite things to do and she remarked that she loved vineyards and wineries. I then suggested Talon Winery as I had previously photographed an engagement session there the year before and the couple loved it. Lauren’s response was “Absolutely – yes!” We planned on Talon Winery and then after that, heading over to Jacobson Park for their Lexington Kentucky Engagement. If you live in Lexington, or are visiting for the day, I recommend checking out both locations!
We started out at Talon Winery, and unsuspectedly to us, they were closed! The day before, a bad storm came through and knocked out the power (oh no!) but fortunately we were able to still photograph there (we just couldn’t purchase any wine to feature in their photos). Additionally, and also very fortunately, we were welcomed with beautiful sunny, golden hour light.
Prior to their engagement session, Lauren consulted me on their outfits and referenced my style guide that I send to all couples! For their first outfit, they went with neutrals and I love how this looked against the sunshine. As you can see, Talon Winery was a perfect spot for this engagement in Lexington Kentucky.
Here are the photos from the first half of their session – as you can see there are so many amazing picture-perfect locations.
After we finished at Talon, it was time to head over to Jacobson. I had previously lived in Lexington for three years, and had ventured to Jacobson many times but had no idea the park had this beautiful row of pines – wow! Lauren and Jake changed and this time she opted for a long, flowing dress and his darker colors to complement the pops of blue and navy on her. They looked great and did so well!
Here are the photos from the pine trees at Jacobson park – so amazing and golden! Like I mentioned, this is such a perfect spot for a Lexington Kentucky engagement.
We then did photos by the fence and the lake, and then the sun started to officially set. At the end of the session we began walking to our cars, and when I turned around, I could see the moon! I told them one more photo!!
Thank you for checking out this blog on Lexington Kentucky engagements! I’m looking forward to hearing from you if you’re planning a wedding in Kentucky or Ohio! You can view my main page here!
