About the Wedding

Indie Hollow provided quite a wonderful backdrop for a boho-inspired wedding for Jenni and Jake. When they submitted their questionnaire to me, they used the following words to describe their day: “relaxed, fun, romantic, candid, a lot of personal details and our ceremony will be focused on our vows to each other.” And, wow! There so many beautiful details at this wedding.

A little bit more about the venue: Indie Hollow is Loveland, Ohio (just a bit north of Cincinnati). They are situated off of a lake, where most of the ceremonies take place. The receptions are typically held in their large tent area and there is plenty of space for couples to bring in their own food trucks! There is an area for the bride and bridesmaids and an area for the guys and plenty of photo opportunities. Indie Hollow also comes with a day-of-coordinator to help keep your day organized, which is so helpful to the couple (and photographer!)

Jenni and Jake are an incredibly sweet couple. They had such a wonderful vision for their wedding. Their colors were navy, copper, and other fall jewel tone colors. There were so many personal details put in place along with lots of gorgeous flowers and treats. They had personalized drinks named after their cats (I love this) a special part of their ceremony where they mixed an Iowa bourbon and Cincinnati bourbon (where Jake and Jenni are from, respectively).

About the Day

I met the couple at the venue and got right to work on capturing details (I always start here!) I photographed details outside for better light. It was a warm November day (around 70 degrees) but incredibly windy – I could barely keep everything laying flat, but got it done! I photographed some special moments with Jenni and the bridesmaids and Jake and the groomsmen and then it was time for their first look.

It’s moments like this that I’m so happy couples choose a first look. I could tell both the bride and groom were a little nervous and the second they saw each other, those nerves just completely melted away. Also, the reaction when Jake saw Jenni – priceless! (see their photos below). We captured their first look photos right under the big tree close to the lake at Indie Hollow. It was such a beautiful moment and they stood hugging and embracing each other for a few minutes.

We went right into their couple’s portraits, bridal party photos, and individual photos of the two of them. We were able to accomplish quite a bit before their ceremony. The weather was a bit whacky that day and rain started to get close, so the call was made to move it in the reception tent. The Indie Hollow team was great at making sure this happened swiftly and quickly!

Ceremony

It was now time to say I-do! As they walked down the aisle I could see them lock eyes – these two just melt your heart. As Jenni got up to the alter, she and Jake gave each other a big hug. You normally don’t see couples do this – and I loved that they did.

They exchanged personal vows and pulled through the tears. It was a beautiful exchange of words and emotions. I loved capturing every moment of it. As mentioned after the ceremony, bourbon shots were exchanged and it was a fun moment symbolizing the two families coming together. After the ceremony we captured family photos (and yay, there was no rain, so we got to do that all outside!) and then headed for the reception.

Reception

This Indie Hollow reception was beautiful. Once again, so many wonderful details in beautiful fall colors. Their introductions, toasts, and dances were all quite memorable and fun. For dinner, they served a large roasted pig. For dessert, they had food trucks! The food trucks served apple cider donuts and milkshakes. What an incredibly neat idea. We also did a sparkler exit (this was staged and didn’t disrupt the reception at all!) and there was lots of dancing and fun afterward.
