Finding the Perfect Photo Spot – Downtown Lawrenceburg!

From an Indiana Wedding Photographer, talk about a fun and lovely engagement session! I spoke with Allyson and Sean back in the fall of 2021 about their spring 2023 wedding and they knew they wanted to wait for warmer weather for their engagement session. What we weren’t sure about was the location! We discussed a few ideas, and one thing they knew was they wanted more of an urban vibe rather than a park. We talked about downtown Cincinnati, Milford, and Covington but we’re sold just yet. Then I got a text asking about downtown Lawrenceburg, Indiana and my response was, “I’ve never been – let’s do it!”

As many of you already know, the Cincinnati area is considered a tri-state area. I love working with couples that are not only just in Ohio, but also in Indiana (and Kentucky!) I’ll travel for engagement sessions and weddings (and so I do consider myself an Indiana Wedding Photographer as well, even though I may not market that on my site!) – it’s something I love to do and I’ve gotten to meet so many great people that way. In this case, Lawrenceburg, Indiana is not too far from downtown Cincinnati and worked out just great.

If you haven’t been to downtown Lawrenceburg, a lot of the development is fairly new and very nice! Lots of walkable streets, nice parks and trees, fun places to eat and drink, and brightly painted murals. It’s also where Allyson is from! The couple also had a couple of ideas for their session – they wanted to grab a drink (a popular request, which I just think is so much fun!), somehow incorporate their child, and to just have fun.

It was a pretty warm evening in mid-June, but we were fortunately blessed with some lovely golden sunlight. We started off taking photos with their little one and he was sweet and cute. We had a lot of fun walking around the park with him. Then we moved on to just photos of the two of them. Halfway in, they changed outfits into a more casual look. I love both looks that they chose! Perfect for a summer engagement session. We took a walk down the street, and I chose many pose prompts that brought out the fun – piggyback rides, running down the street, and playfully chasing each other. We even stopped to have a beer (because it was very hot!). I love when couples treat their photo session as a date night. It just makes for a fun experience! Needless to say, it’s so obvious how much these two love each other and I’m excited for their wedding in 2023!
