Hidden Valley Orchards is a beautiful gem located right in Lebanon, Ohio (a northern neighborhood of Cincinnati). The orchards are complete with a taproom, a market, an icecream shop, and of course beautiful orchards. They are known throughout the year for offering yummy seasonal treats and host frequent fun events for the community. They allow you to walk around and enjoy the full beauty of the orchards. It’s a great spot for a date night or to bring your family for sure!
I love Hidden Valley Orchards simply for all of the things I mentioned above, and was so happy when the couple mentioned this as a preferred location for their engagement session (more on that below!) Hidden Valley Orchards is also a wedding venue! They offer different areas to get married (including a lush water fall area – which is pictured below!) You can find out more about their bridal and wedding experience at their website located here.
One important thing to mention: if you are interested in having a photo session done at Hidden Valley Orchards, you must contact them prior to the date you’d like to have your photographs taken. You can follow their FAQs listed on their website about photography.
About the author of this blog: I am a Cincinnati and Dayton based wedding photographer. This particular couple booked me for their 2024 wedding and we did their engagement session in July of 2023. I love working with couples so please reach out if you’re a couple looking for a photographer! You can find more about the wedding experience I offer here.
Shannon and Patrick have quite the story behind their engagement session at Hidden Valley Orchards. Patrick is in the military and is currently stationed elsewhere, while Shannon is here in Ohio. Patrick was home in Ohio for three short days for the July 4th Holiday. Originally, we were supposed to do their engagement session on July 2nd, but a series of strong thunderstorms moved through. We checked the possibility for rescheduling for the 3rd and it was also looking not so great weather wise (FYI I’m really flexible when it comes to rescheduling engagement sessions – I want great weather for you too!)
Shannon asked me if I’d be available on the 4th of July as that was Patrick’s last day here (he was leaving later that afternoon). The weather was looking sunny! I told her that if we were trying to get a photo session before he left in the afternoon, we should try to do that first thing in morning (as the morning sun also isn’t as bright yet as the afternoon is). We all agreed this would work!
So, we met at 10am at Hidden Valley Orchards on the 4th of July. Another side note about this session – Shannon had previously worked at the Orchards and considers herself friends with the owner. They were so kind and gracious to let us photograph on the holiday. But the best part is that I got to capture some amazingly sweet moments between these two before they had to say goodbye. To date, this is one of my favorite engagement sessions I’ve ever done.
Shannon and Patrick stuck to the style guide I sent too! Shannon came in a long ivory dress and Patrick wore tan pants a light blue shirt. These colors photography so light and romantically. We found the most perfect spot at Hidden Valley Orchards where the sun was coming in just right.
For their second outfit, they went more casual and we enjoyed a walk down to the waterfall. It started to get a bit hot and humid, but it was still such a lovely place for an engagement session.
Enjoy their photos below!
