The full day was mostly spent at Walden Ponds, a Hamilton Ohio Wedding Venues. The bride and groom arrived separately to large getting ready areas well equipped for some fun photo opportunities! The bride and her bridesmaids had on some fun robes that matched the color of their dresses. Much of the time leading up to the ceremony was relaxing as we focused on getting some key photos: bridal party, family, and a few others. A little about getting ready: something I hear from brides a lot is a good question – why should I care about getting ready photos? The biggest misconception is that I’ll be taking photos of you getting dressed. Not at all! I’ll be taking photos of your beautiful details, you and friends having a good time, sentimental moments with mom as she finishes the final zip up, you putting on your jewelry and shoes, and any other special moments that wouldn’t be captured anywhere else!
Katlin decided that she wanted to do a first look with her dad and I was so glad she did! It was a special moment between the two of them. We staged the first look out on the beautiful lawn by the house. After we finished photos of the girls and the guys, the bride and groom were able to sit back and relax a little bit while we focused on getting details photos. I love capturing all of the details from couples’ days! The flowers were just beautiful (check out Petal and Stem). Also, the colors they chose – wow! Talk about pop. Terracotta and navy was the color palette and for a photographer that loves color, this was a dream.
About an hour before the ceremony, the bride and groom decided they wanted to do a first touch instead of a first look. While I normally recommend first looks, I was excited for them to try the first touch! It turned out to be such a special moment. I have a few photos below, but definitely check out the reel I created on social media (I like to capture quick moments by video on my phone, and then share the photos!)
After this special moment, it was almost Ceremony time! The ceremony was under one of the beautiful trees overlooking the golf course. Michael kept himself turned around until the very moment Katlin got down the aisle. What another special moment from the day when he first saw her. Their ceremony was absolutely beautiful. It was short (only about 15 minutes!) but we captured so many wonderful photos.
After the ceremony, we finished up the family photos, got some great bridal party pictures, and then of course lots of pictures of Katlin and Michael! Like their engagement session, I wanted to capture the moments of them having fun with another, the love they share for one another, and of course throwing in a beer!
We finished their photos just in time for the reception, toasts, dinner, and dancing. For dessert, they chose Nothing Bundt Cake, and they were so delicious! (yes, I sampled one haha). It was beautiful September day and the couple was so grateful to their family and guests. I love days like this – enjoy their photos!
