Franklin Conservatory, located on the east side of downtown Columbus, is a perfect place for wedding and engagement sessions. This blog will highlight a bit about Franklin Conservatory wedding and engagements, the beautiful botanical gardens, and indoor areas itself, and a real actual engagement session that was photographed at Franklin Conservatory in May of 2023. I’m a Columbus wedding photographer and I absolutely love Franklin Conservatory for weddings and engagements! I’ve not yet had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at Franklin Conservatory, so if you’re planning your wedding there, and are looking for a photographer, please reach out! Mention this blog in your inquiry and I’ll also provide a 10% discount.
A little bit about Franklin Conservatory: it is a premier indoor and outdoor botanical garden and is also home to the Palm House, built in 1895. The inside is simply amazing and stunning! What’s so wonderful about Franklin Conservatory is that there are so many options indoors for photographs. I love all the different rooms that offer a diversity of plants and flowers, coupled with all the natural light that just pours in. The outdoors is lovely as well, and their gardens are very well cared for. For engagement sessions, a session fee is involved if you’d like to photograph indoors. If you prefer to stay outside, as of now, there is no fee. It was very easy to reach out to the Conservatory and book the session and the couple was so happy to be able to photograph there.
On a side note, if you’re thinking about another wedding option in Columbus, Franklin Conservatory is a great spot, but I also recommend checking out Alton Farmstead. It’s a bit of a different vibe but has a lot of picturesque areas as well. I wrote a blog about it here!
Taylor and Jacob are an adoringly sweet couple! When I first spoke with them about planning their session, they had mentioned how they really wanted to have a Franklin Conservatory wedding, however as a Dayton, Ohio-based couple, wanted to keep their wedding venue close to home. After looking into it, we discovered that the conservatory allows for engagement sessions, and we were sold! It was a beautiful spring day, and they followed my style recommendations to a tee.
Taylor started off in a long white dress and Jacob in a light blue shirt. I always recommend light colors for photoshoots as they work with my light and bright editing style very well. We mostly photographed in the Palm House, but we also went through the Tropical Rainforest, sculpture garden, bonsai courtyard, and others.
They later changed their outfits to a more casual option, and we photographed in some areas, but predominantly in the outside gardens. As you can see, both indoors and outdoors are excellent options for pictures!
If you’d like to schedule an engagement session with Franklin Conservatory, I suggest an online search for their photography and videography policy, and their latest procedures should be the first option!
Here are the pictures we took in the palm house – they did so well!
Next, we moved on to more of the botanical gardens!
Look at how cute Taylor’s purse was!
A few more other pictures in these outfits!
And then it was time to change and go outside! Look at the lush and green area just outside the conservatory! Also, I just love how playful they were with each other!
It was a great fun day at Franklin Conservatory!
