About Devou Park Wedding and Engagement Photo Opportunities

Devou Park is an absolutely stunning park right in Northern Kentucky. I absolutely love photographing at Devou Park for weddings and engagements. The park itself is huge, and comes with a view of the Cincinnati skyline and Ohio River. I love this park simply because there is so many gorgeous trees, sunlit fields, and opportunities for a romantic journey together. Devou is a beautiful park with a lot of spread-out options for photographs. While it can be a popular destination, it’s so wide and open that you can seclude yourself fairly well! It’s also beautiful and lush with plenty of greenery and pretty spots where the sun shines with it’s golden glow.

This particular blog will walk you through an engagement session at Devou Park. All of the photos below could be easily replicated for a Devou Park Wedding.

About the Session

I originally spoke with this couple back in December of 2021 and as we were planning out the details for her wedding, we also got into discussing their engagement session. “Somewhere with lots of nature, green, and pretty! So, let’s definitely wait until spring!” Good thing we live in an area where there are soooo many beautiful, green options! We discussed a list of ideas and eventually landed on Devou Park in Northern Kentucky.

Janja’s next question was “Can we bring our dogs?” to which my answer is always “Of course!” Dogs are great addition to any session (just be sure to bring along a friend who can walk your dog(s) while we’re getting photos of just the two of you!)

Janja and Chris showed up dressed very well (the beautiful dress she has on in the above photo with Chris in neutral colors). My favorite part is when Janja said “These are our casual outfits!” I couldn’t wait to see what they had in store next! We started their session at Rotary Grove and the sun dipped a little too far down, so we walked across the way to a more open area. OH MY GOODNESS – the sun came out to play that evening. Talk about golden hour! We stayed in the same spot for most of the session because it was just that good!

Halfway in they changed clothes – once again their choices were top notch. I love when brides decide to wear white to their sessions! And for another surprise, they also brought champagne! To provide the appropriate backdrop for popping a champagne bottle, we headed over to the Devou overlook, which gives you a complete view of downtown Cincinnati. What a way to end a session!

Janja and Chris are such a lovely couple – lots of love and laughter – my absolute favorite and the reason why I do what I do. I’m excited for their wedding in September! Enjoy their photos below.
