As a Cincinnati Engagement Photographer, I like to help my clients find the right spot! Karli and Joe are gearing up for their wedding in just a month! We planned for their summer engagement photos a few months ago and they both knew they wanted something overlooking the beautiful city of downtown Cincinnati so my response was – I know the perfect spot! George Rogers Clark Park is in Covington, KY right across the river from downtown.
Their wedding is looking to incorporate many Cincinnati themes. We live in such an incredibly awesome city so I can’t wait to see what’s in store for their wedding day.
For their engagement session, Karli chose to wear a white dress which looked great up against Joe’s pastel shirt. The park itself looks so different in the summer. Lush green trees provide lots of shade and cover but doesn’t necessarily provide the best light for photos. We still managed to capture some great ones here, though! Once we moved over to the sidewalk up against the city skyline, that’s where the magic happened! I love finding poses and prompts that capture not only the love, but the fun and happiness a couple shows for one another.
My favorite part about their session is that after we finished talking about their upcoming wedding, Karli started off with “We’re just so awkward in the front of the camera! Please tell us what to do!” As you can all see, these two nailed it… they look great! I will say this is a common apprehension I get from couples, and I will always be here to guide you and tell you where to stand, how to pose, etc. but what I’ll also remind you of is that you two know each other so well that you’ll naturally just fall into one another. I like to combine your natural/candid state with posing instruction – it tends to work out pretty well!
Another favorite part of this session was how much these two laugh together. They are very much best friends. I love working with happy and joyful couples – it just reminds me why I do what I do!
Enjoy their photos below. The first half we spent in the park and second half we spent in front of the downtown Cincinnati skyline. 🙂 I should also note that George Rogers Clark Park is beautiful during other seasons as well! In the fall, these trees are all amazingly colorful and there are lots of flowers blooming in the spring. Definitely a great park to visit to capture not only the city landscape, but also beautiful gardens!
