Ault Park is great for engagement pictures because of all the different landscape and beautiful gardens it provides. In the spring, Ault Park is famously known for blooming beautiful weeping cherry trees, magnolias, tulips, roses, and other beautiful flowers and trees. These certainly make for great backdrops for your photos! In addition to that it has great structures, fountains, stairs, and overlooks that make for great natural light enhancers (so it breaks up the green if that makes sense!)
Another reason why Ault Park is a great spot for engagement pictures is because it’s so central for many people. Nestled right in Cincinnati, Ohio, it’s easily accessible for many people in Cincinnati, Northern, KY, and even Dayton, Ohio.
Ault Park can get crowded at certain times of the year, particularly during springtime (everyone wants to see the beautiful blooms!) so definitely work with your photographer in picking the best date and time if you choose Ault Park for a photo location. I recommend to my couples to schedule their engagement pictures photoshoot for a weekday, and avoid the weekends, during the springtime.
The gardens have sidewalks surrounding them, and is a great area to walk around and get photos. There is a big open lawn (perfect for having some fun and goofy antics such as this couple did!). There is also an open overlook off of the Ohio River if you walk across the street from the gardens. Point is, there is so much to consider here!
In the summer, fall, and winter, Ault Park’s crowds do calm a bit, but as also a popular hiking & walking destination, along with also being a wedding venue and wedding photo spot, parking can sometimes get tricky. Fortunately, there are several lots to park in and also parallel-parking spots all alongside the park.
More information about Ault Park can be found on their website located here. They do have a calendar of events posted so that you can check out what events may be at the park before deciding to go. It’s certainly a beautiful park, so be sure to leave it how you left it! Also, note that some trails and sidewalks do not allow dogs. Overall, engagement pictures at Ault Park are always a great idea!
This particular couple isn’t engaged yet! They were celebrating a two-year anniversary and reached out to me to book their photos and thought Ault Park would be a great spot for pictures. However, my approach to their session was similar to an engagement session.
It was actually a rainy day in June for their pictures. The rain subsided temporarily for most of their pictures, but toward the end of the shoot, it started to rain (and then eventually pour!) so I tried to keep them under the cover of a big, green tree! We didn’t get a chance to check out all of the different areas due to the rain, but were still able to get some amazing photos of the two of them (aren’t they cute!?)
I love photographing fun and joyful couples for their engagement, wedding, or anniversary. Scroll down to find my contact link if you’d like to reach out about scheduling your own session. Enjoy the photos!
