What a session this was! When first talking with Jenni and Jake about their engagement session, one of the first things mentioned “let’s go to a park and have a beer!” and that just sounded like music to my ears, ha! They also had an idea of waiting until spring (we initially spoke to each other during the cold winter) and I was excited about the idea of doing a spring session. We eventually chose Washington Park, known for music hall and blooming beautiful flowers in the springtime.
Jenni and Jake are a wonderfully laid-back and joyful couple. I could tell they wanted their session to just be about them enjoying an evening the park – nothing over the top but just nice.
As far as outfit choices, Jenni went with a lovely green dress that went so well with the park! I know when planning an engagement session, figuring out what to wear can be tricky, but I think they nailed it!
We spent the first part of the session walking around Washington Park, moving from spot to spot and just enjoying the nice evening. Eventually I had them dash across the street to music hall, do a quick dip and a kiss and turn back. Always be careful when doing this (lookout for cars!) but it’s a lot of fun to capture.
They chose to do an outfit-change halfway through (dressy to casual – always a good choice – gives a good blend of photos). Originally, we thought to head into Taft Ale House (very close to Washington Park) but in the spring/summer, the park has an open beer garden! So, they purchased a couple beers, which you’ll see captured in the photos below!
One last thing I have to mention about their session and their photos – I love the way Jake looks at Jenni! Love is a great thing, and I can tell their wedding in the fall will be a wonderful day!
